PRIME at BC Women’s Health Foundation’s 24th Annual Illuminations Luncheon

We are thrilled to share that PRIME had a successful booth presentation and fireside chat at the BC Women’s Health Foundation’s 24th Annual Illuminations Luncheon! This inspiring event brought together community, corporate, government and medical research leaders to support and hear from extraordinary women’s health researchers.

Our team had the opportunity to showcase PRIME’s work, engage with attendees, and discuss the importance of women’s imaging research. A big thank you to everyone who joined the fireside chat and stopped by our booth—we appreciate your support and enthusiasm for our research!

Congratulations to Dr. Yasser Sabr on His Appointment as ISUOG Ambassador to North America

We are pleased to announce that Dr. Yasser Sabr, our PRIME Lead, has been appointed as the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ISUOG) Ambassador to North America.


This prestigious appointment recognizes Dr. Sabr’s outstanding contributions to advancing ISUOG’s mission to enhance education and foster membership growth in key regions. We congratulate Dr. Sabr on this well-deserved honor and look forward to the continued impact of his work in the field.

Warm Farewell to Amanda Easton and Welcome to Jackie Takai

As the PRIME team, we extend our warm farewell to Amanda Easton, PRIME’s Senior Sonographer, who was with the PRIME team from 2017 to October 2024. Amanda’s expertise and contributions have greatly enriched the PRIME Centre for which we are deeply grateful. We are also excited to welcome Jackie Takai as our new sonographer and wish her every success in this role.

PRIME Centre Presentation During the CW Research Lunch and Learn

PRIME Centre was proud to present at the CW Research Lunch & Learn series, as part of the “Navigating Research Services: Tools, Technologies, and Facilities” available at BC Children’s and Women’s Hospital.

Maryam Yasinian (left in photo), PRIME Research Coordinator, highlighted the Centre’s facilities and ongoing initiatives, while Tiffany Reeve (right in photo), STIMULUS Research Manager, showcased STIMULUS research as an example of the collaborative research being conducted at PRIME.

PRIME Centre Exhibit at the 2024 Canadian National Perinatal Research Meeting

PRIME Centre proudly participated in the 2024 Canadian National Perinatal Research Meeting, held at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre on June 4th. At our booth, we showcased our latest research, equipment, and initiatives. This event provided an excellent platform for us to connect with fellow researchers, healthcare professionals, and attendees, fostering collaboration and sharing insights into advancements in perinatal care. We are excited to continue contributing to the field and advancing maternal and infant health.


PRIME Centre Welcomed University of Global Health Equity Visitors

In June 2024, PRIME Centre was pleased to welcome a group of researchers and students from the University of Global Health Equity (UGHE). During their visit, we provided a tour of the PRIME Centre and explored potential opportunities for collaboration in research and education.


PRIME Welcomed UBC President Dr. Benoit-Antoine Bacon

In January 2024, PRIME Centre had the honor of welcoming UBC President Dr. Benoit-Antoine Bacon and their visiting party as part of their tour of BC Women’s Hospital. Dr. Bacon’s visit provided a valuable opportunity to highlight PRIME’s ongoing efforts in advancing research and education in women’s health and family care.


PRIME Centre’s New Lead

In December 2023, the PRIME Centre proudly announced the appointment of Dr. Yasser Sabr as the new PRIME Lead. We extend our warmest welcome to Dr. Sabr and express our gratitude to past leaders, Dr. Denise Pugash and Dr. Chantal Mayer, for their exemplary dedication and contributions to the PRIME. Congratulations to Dr. Charissa Patricelli and Dr. Denise Pugash on their recent success with the 2023 PRIME Centre Research Award. Two awards, each valued at $11,250, were distributed to support health research for the benefit of women and newborns. Learn more on WHRI website.
